Rock Climbing

Dear Parent/Carer,

Following your son’s request for Outdoor Education this year, I am pleased to invite him onto a rock climbing session, which will take place this academic year.

Please see your son’s allocated date on the text message you received this link on.

There will be an opportunity to visit the indoor rock-climbing centre at the Creation Climbing Wall in Moseley. Students will learn the basics of how to tie in and belay fellow climbers, master climbing techniques on different routes and work towards the KNSB Climbing Awards.

Students should meet me by the Outdoor Education Room at 9.50am after period 1. The Outdoor Education room is D 1.6, by the side of the dining room. We will return to school at 3pm. Students will be transported in the school mini bus.

Please supply a packed lunch and a large drink. Packed lunches are available for free school meal students.

Students will be provided with all safety gear and full instruction. Please remember to wear a tight-fitting pair of trainers and bring warm comfortable clothes for climbing in but NO JEANS. It can be cold inside at times.

Students can come to school in their clothes to climb in (no uniform required), please remember lose clothing is key for movement.

In order for your son to take part in this activity, we will need the online medical consent form (link below) submitted before his allocated date.

To maintain this wonderful opportunity for our students, it is essential we have contributions from families. Parental contributions help support the running and upkeep of the outdoor adventure programme as well as providing outdoor learning opportunities across the curriculum for all students.

Contributions are to be made via ParentPay to the ‘Parental Contributions’ payment item.

If your son is unable to take this opportunity, then please let me know so we can reallocate the space.

Thanks for your support.
