School Uniform

Uniform and appearance is really important to us, it demonstrates that our students are proud to be a King Edward VI King’s Norton School Boy

All students in Years 7-11 should wear:

Shoes

Black Shoes (not trainers or trainer shoes and no logos)

Please be aware that some shops, including shoe shops, market trainer shoes as school shoes.

If you are unsure if the shoes you are considering meet our expectations please feel free to contact the school before you purchase them. You can send a photo of the shoes to enquiry@knbs.co.uk

School Tie*

Dark blue with light blue stripes, this can be purchased from our uniform suppliers (school does not stock ties).

School Blazer*

The blazer is dark blue and single breasted with the school badge sewn on to the pocket. Our school blazer is a compulsory part of our school uniform. If we do become part of the King Edward VI MAT as proposed (January 2024) we will organise a new badge for blazers at no cost to parents.

Trousers

Trousers should be grey or black in colour, of normal width in the leg, and not jeans or jeans material.

Jumper

A plain navy blue ‘V’-necked jumper, this is an optional part of the uniform. It can be a non-branded item or purchased from suppliers with the school crest. Both options are acceptable and will remain acceptable after January 2024.

School Shirt

School shirts should be white or light blue in colour. They can be long or short sleeved.

Clothing for PE lessons

  • Navy blue sports shorts – with or without school crest
  • sky blue sports socks for outdoor and white ankle socks for indoor (interchangeable)
  • (Indoor/Summer) White polo shirt – with or without school crest
  • (Outdoor/Winter) School Rugby/Outdoor Sports shirt – with crest from uniform suppliers

Students will need trainers for indoor lessons and football boots for Football and Rugby sessions.  They should also bring shin pads and a gum shield for those sports in order to play competitive and game situations. A clearly marked towel can be brought if a student intends to use the shower facilities.

If the proposed transfer to KEVI takes place in January 2024, all of these items remain valid for use and will NOT need to be replaced.

Naming Items

Please make sure that all articles of clothing are marked with the boy’s name. We have significant amounts of lost property each year that we are unable to return as it is not named.

Uniform for students in Years 7-11 must be worn on all journeys to and from school and on journeys (away matches, visits, etc) in school time, unless otherwise informed.

Earrings

We discourage all body and facial piercing. We allow a single stud in each ear lobe to be worn.

Students who arrive with extreme haircuts (including lines, circles/logos or bright colours) or deliberately flout the uniform regulations will lose SDfL points, this could result in internal exclusion in extreme or persistent cases. It will be appreciated that the school’s decision on whether or not appearance is appropriate for school must be the final one.

Equipment

All students should carry the basics: Two black pens, pencil, ruler, rubber, and a pencil case in a full-size bag. More specialist equipment may become useful as students move through the school.
