Les has considerable experience in both the Public and Private Sector at a senior level having served as a Councillor on Birmingham City Council with a period as a Cabinet Member with a portfolio which included education, together with being an appointed member of the Local Government Association, the national representative body for Local Authorities, during which time he chaired the Children and Young People’s Board and Safer Communities Board.Within the NHS Les has been the Chair of three NHS Hospital Trusts covering a period of more than twelve years with significant budgets and varying challenges. During this time, Les also steered one of these Trusts into Foundation Status. In the private sector he worked with board executives, especially in the aerospace industry, providing technology advice to improve business processes.
