The Brilliant Club

Earlier this week, some of our Year 9 boys visited the University of Birmingham as part of their involvement this year in The Brilliant Club. They behave impeccably, engaged in the sessions and represented the school as we would expect. Sessions ranged from a theatre production which gave an insight into university life and the challenges that students face. The boys then had a talk from a university student in her third year, explaining what a day at university might look like, including lectures, reading and social activities. The students then had the opportunity to tour the campus, which included visiting the hockey and squash courts and they were even able to play some squash! Finally, the boys attended a workshop about career skills and future pathways which they enjoyed, and they were able to speak with several students from other schools whilst doing so. Well done, boys! We hope this has inspired you to think about what university life might offer you.

Parental Partnership

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for the support you continue to give our school community. As we have transitioned from Management Information Systems in school, we acknowledge that it may have been frustrating not being able to track student commendations and any behaviour concerns. We appreciate your patience and understanding while these changes were implemented.

Now that access has been restored (through the weekly Friday emails home), we have already seen a significant and positive improvement in student behaviour. This is a clear reminder of the powerful impact that strong communication and partnership between home and school can have on young people. When students see that school and home are working together, expectations become clearer, support becomes stronger and success becomes more achievable. The most successful outcomes happen when students, families and school staff work in partnership — each playing an important role in what is often described as the ‘golden triangle’ of education: school, home and the student.

Your engagement matters greatly. By checking attendance, discussing behaviour, encouraging positive routines and maintaining communication with us, you make a real difference to your child’s progress and wellbeing.

Thank you once again for your continued support, encouragement and partnership. We value the role you play and look forward to continuing to work together to help all students thrive.
